Narciso Rodriguez at Kohl’s

A favorite of Michelle Obama, Jessica Alba, Claire Danes and Salma Hayek, Narciso Rodriguez designs will be available at Kohl’s in early November. Rodriguez will be the first designer to lend his name and creativity to Kohl’s Design Nation and this collection was inspired by Istanbul. The pieces will be priced between $30 and $150 – a far cry from the usual $800+ we usually see (and can’t afford). A sample of the collection is below, including Zoe Saldana wearing one of the pieces. What do you think?

I don’t care what anyone says, I love these shoes!

Posted in Closet

I will admit that my taste isn’t always in the “mainstream” or what everyone would agree is “cute.” I can be quirky and a little different and not the most feminine chica out there. I did own these shoes once (actually, I still own them. I can be a bit of a hoarder, even with ugly things). Today I went to the Clark’s at Cherry Creek because I needed some new work flats. I told the saleswoman that I was also looking for some casual weekend shoes, especially for when the weather finally cools down in Denver. She brought out a few pairs, one of which I would have never picked out myself. I tried them on and you know what? They were really comfortable. They felt like slippers! And they looked really good with my neon green socks and navy cords. Here they are…

The Faraway Field in Flint suede. I’m going to wear the heck out of these shoes.

Fashion Trend I Don’t Get: Peep-Toe Boots

Posted in Closet

Apologies to anyone who owns a pair of peep-toe boots. I hate them. I just don’t get the cut-outs and peep-toes in boots that I am seeing all over the place. Weren’t boots created to cover and protect our feet and legs? If it’s warm enough for peep-toed shoes, why wear boots? And if it’s cold enough for boots, why expose your toes? Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the trend is going away any time soon. Ugh.

NYFW SS 2013 – Marchesa: India? Huh?

Posted in Closet

So I normally looove Marchesa shows. The flowy gowns make me feel all princess-y and girlie. The short dresses make me wish I had long, skinny legs that looked awesome in them. And despite the fact that I could never afford to just pick up a few Marchesa dresses to add to my wardrobe, I am always waiting for the shows. And this time I didn’t really get it. It was obviously inspired by India, but almost in a literal way. Some of the dresses actually looked like traditional Indian saris. I was expecting a little inspiration from India, versus a literal interpretation. Style.com agrees. What do you think?

Enjoy!

NYC Fashion Week SS 2013 RTW: White!

Posted in Closet, Dinner Party Decor

It’s no surprise that in most designer’s spring collections, white was in heavy rotation. The serene white is always a classic pick for dinner parties as well.

Enjoy!
